Mr. Richards landed in August 1944 near Marseilles, France after a June 1944 Convoy to Italy. He fought on the front lines until captured Oct. 29, 1944. Later that day he was wounded by friendly fire coming in on the German position. He was transported to Strasborg, France and liberated at a German Hospital after about one month. He served as squad leader and squad BAR man in combat.
