Mr. Brown flew 23 missions when engine trouble forced his B-17 to ditch in the North Sea on August 6, 1944. Captured, he was held in Stalag L-4 in Poland and the great walk across Germany until liberated april 26, 1945. His basic duty was top turret gunner and armorer.
