Mr. Byers was a drill sergant at Camp Wheeler for two years before attending officer's candidate school at Ft. Benning. Sent as replacement to South Pacific and assigned as a Rifle Platoon leader in the Americal Division. He participated in the first wave durin the Negros Island Invasion in the Philippines and later some time on Cebu Island. Occupation duty in Japan before discharged. |
