Tommy Dunn was assigned as crew of the number 1 bow 5" gun. USS Lamson attacked in Ormac Bay on Dec. 7, 1944 by Kamikazi and severely damaged. He abandoned ship only after ordered to and spent several hours in the water before picked up. Following the surrender, he went a shore at Nagasaki and witnessed the devastation from the atomic attack.
