Joined Summer 1941 in Navy Reserve. Dec. 8, 1941 went on Active Duty. On December 26, 1942, two Val Dive Bombers sank the USS Brownson off Cape Glouchester. He went on surviver's leave and then was reassigned to USS Stevens, operating in the Pacific for remainder of the war. Later became a Commander and retired in 1962.
