"Next A.M. Bill drove to Front Royal, where we had breakfast.  And then to the Skyline Drive. First shot is just after entering the Drive, at the 1st lookout.  Next is a bit further on, both looking over the valley to the west.  If examined closely, the Shenandoah River can be seen in the valley.  Below is first view to the east.  The Drive follows the crest, first on one side then on the other."  Bill related to me that he received his driver's license when he reached fourteen years old due to the war emergency.  Tackling Skyline Drive before he was 18 must have been a challenge.
