He was involved in the fient landing on the east coast of Okinawa and then on picket duty during the Kamikazi offensive during the Okinawa Campaign. He worked the Training for the front 40 mm gun and probably credited with one twin engine enemy bomber destroyed. The ship is credited with four victories against Kamikazi aircraft.
