| Assigned as Cadre to train for amphibious landing at Camp Ord for over a year. He only stopped breifly at Eniwitok on the way to Leyte. He was in 5th wave of the assault on Leyte and immediately engaged enemy on Catmon Hill (120). Running out of amunition, he engaged three Jap soldiers in hand to hand combat. He was injured on right shoulder and evacuated. |
