He was involved in the fient landing on the east coast of Okinawa and then on
picket duty during the Kamikazi offensive during the Okinawa Campaign. Awarded the Bronze Star for rescue operations on the LST 887 on April 1, 1945. The ship is credited with four
victories against Kamikazi aircraft.
